NetApp-Endura ended the Tour de France with a fantastic 7th place for Leopold König that fully justifies their invitation for the race. The team sees the performance as the crowning moment of their five-year journey.
A fabulous Tour de France ends successfully for Team NetApp-Endura: With seventh place in the general classification for Leopold König, the German team exceeded all expectations in its premiere in the world's most important cycle race. With his aggressive riding style in the Alps, five top-ten positions and the podium spot at the summit finish in Chamrousse, 26-year-old König underlined his claim to be one of the world's best tour riders.
But for Enrico Poitschke, Sport Director of Team NetApp-Endura in France, the success of the rider is a success for the entire team: "It was a brilliant performance from the whole team," says Poitschke. "This reception in Paris, this result with Leo in seventh position overall, it's a well-deserved reward for all the hard work that the riders and the whole team put into this project. These three weeks in France are the crowning glory of five years of team history. The result clearly shows that we totally deserved the invitation to the Tour de France."
Apart from David de la Cruz, all nine Team NetApp-Endura riders reached Paris. "That too is a really top-class result and it shows how the team performed here," says Poitschke. "Only it's a pity for David, of course, he would have deserved to be there at the end."
