In Poland, a group is working hard to form a new team. According to the Polish cycling website Naszosie, the team will be known as Grom. It is already clear that the team will use Colnago bikes. "We want to emulate Katusha and Orica-Bike Exchange," the group says.

According to the Polish site, CCC Sprandi-Polkowice, will reduce the roster for 2017, while it was announced earlier that Verva-ActiveJet have not asked for a ProContinental license for 2017.  There has never been Polish team at World Tour level is but Grom is hoping to eventually join the elite divicion. 

"This plan is especially a carefully planned strategy for the period between 2016 and 2022," a spokesman explains. "We want to build a group on the basis of expertise and experience. For potential sponsors, it is a unique opportunity to display their brand globally. "

The presentation will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Warsaw in around a month. It is likely that the team will already be in the pro peloton in 2017 but it is not (yet) on the UCI list of teams.

According to the spokesman, Grom differs from other teams because it is a national project.

"The construction of Grom is based on a totally different basis than other similar projects. This is not about the principle: ’Give us money and we will build a good team.’ With this project we want to achieve all the goals, from a sporting perspective but also as an organization and from a marketing standpoint. Because it is a national project, all major domestic companies will participate. We invite them to cooperate. We want to benchmark ourselves at the level of similar projects, such as Katusha and Orica-BikeExchange. We believe that this is the correct path of development. If we succeed, our fans and sponsors will be proud of this project. "
