Caja Rural-Seguros RGA rider Alberto Gallego tested positive for stanozol on January 3 as confirmed by the Spanish team. He has been provisionally suspended by the International Cycling Union (UCI) and his contract has been terminated.
Gallego (1990) was one of the new signings and came from the Portuguese Radio Popular team. In the amateur category,he finished as number one in the ranking of the Spanish Federation and made the jump to the professional field at the end of 2014. Last year, he excelled in the Route du Sud, finishing seventh in a race won by Contador ahead of Quintana.
He joined his new team on January 1 and returned an adverse analytical result in a control two days later, on January 3. He participated in the recent training camp in Benidorm and was scheduled to participate in the GP Marseillaise on Sunday.

"The team Caja Rural - Seguros RGA announces that it has decided to terminate the contract of the rider Alberto Gallego after learning about the anomalies found in the results from tests taken on January 3, 2016. The decision is in accordance with the current regulations and in compliance with internal regulations of the team. The riders joined the team on January 1, 2016 and has not participated in any race of the 2016 season. "
