The Brazilian Funvic Soul Carrefour is one of the surprises in the Professional Continental peloton for next season. It has officially been approved by the International Cycling Union (UCI) and will have Pablo Urtasun and Antonio Piedra as their main riders. Benedito "Kid" Tadeu Azevedo Junior's team will have a Spanish, Portuguese and national calendar.
The idea of Funvic Soul Carrefour is to be present in the UCI races of their home country, International Cycling Volta do Rio Grande do Sul (April 6-10), Tour de Santa Catarina (April 20-24), Tour do Rio (May 18-22) and Volta Ciclística internacional do Paraná (June 1-5), and compete in Europe. The intention is to do all the Spanish and Portuguese professional races.
With a young roster, Urtasun and Piedra are the veterans of the team. With their lack of experience in Europe, they know that WorldTour invitations are complicated in their first year. They idea is to deomnstrate a good sporting level and then ask for invitations for races where they can improve the image.
The roster will be made up of 16 riders. Currently, there are only four riders confirmed, Piedra and Urtasun and young ridersRodrigo dos Santos Quirino, current Brazilian U23 champion and Nathan Ribeiro Mahler.
