Alejandro Marque (1981, Efapel) will spend next season at the LA-Antarte team with the aim of fighting for the victory at the Volta a Portugal.
Since 2004, Marque has competed in Portuguese teams. In 2013, he won the Volta a Portugal and this year he was third. "I thank Mario Roca for giving me this chance. I am very happy to belong to this team that and I think I'll be able to show my value. I have been in search of victory in the Tour of Portugal and my ambition is now to achieve the goal with LA-Antarte," he said.
His former teams were Cavalhelhos Boavista (2004-2005), Loulé (2006-2007), Palmeiras (2008-2010), Onda (2011), Carmin-Prio (2012), OFM-Quinta da Lixa (2013) and Efapel ( 2015)
In August last year, the Spanish Cycling Federation decided Marque’s doping case that was based on an adverse analytical finding at the 2013 Volta a Portugal which he won. Movistar Team broke the contract between the two parties that would have allowed the Galician to debut in the World Tour.
"My innocence is more than clear, as I have argued from the beginning. It's been a tough year and only my family and I know what we went through. Movistar turned away at the time and I expected more from them," he said then. Marque regretted having "a tainted image” due to the case.
