According to Spaziociclismo, Vincenzo Nibali will line up at the start of the tenth edition of the Memorial Marco Pantani, Italian one-day race organized as a tribute to the legendary Mercatone Uno rider.
Held this year on Saturday, 20th of September, Memorial Marco Pantani will traditionally start in Cesentico and finish in another city of the Emilia-Romagna province, Cesena, a birthplace of the unforgettable climber remembered as the Pirate.
According to the cited website, the one-day event, held just one week before the World Championships road race, will be used by the Italian national team as their final build-up before Ponferrada.
By this occasion national team’s coach, Davide Cassani has confirmed that Nibali will lead the Italian squad in Spain, joined by Filippo Pozzato, Luca Paolini, Fabio Aru, Salvatore Puccio, Matteo Trentin, Giacomo Nizzolo and Fabio Felline. This suggests that the final spot in the squad is yet to be filled.
