After 16 years as a professional rider and one year as part of the staff of Tinkoff-Saxo in the WorldTour, Nicki Sorensen will become the first director of the Israeli Cycling Academy Team.
After his professional career of which he spent 14 in Bjarne Riis' team, Sørensen made his debut as sports director at Tinkoff-Saxo, working with riders like Alberto Contador and Peter Sagan in 2015.
Sorensen won stages in the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana and was a quadrauple national champion. From now on, he will bring his experience to a team of young talents and a project that intends to do a grand tour in 2018. The rosterwill be confirmed shortly after a meeting in Italy next week.
Cycling Academy Team was the first professional team in Israel and is supported and launched by 2015 world champion Peter Sagan.
