Julian Arredondo, the 28-yera-old Colombian talent, has decided to relaunch his career at NIPPO Vini Fantini team. He is coming from a World Tour team: Trek-Segafredo.

Arredondo was the King of the Mountains of the 2014 Giro d’Italia 2014, wearing the final Blue Jersey that future teammate Damiano Cunego almost won in the 2016 season, with a final 2nd place in the special ranking dedicated to climbers.

Starting from 2017 Julian Arredondo will be a new and key rider of the #OrangeBlue team. The contract was signed at Sun-TIMES, the communication agency founded by Francesco Pelosi and Nicholas Figoli, where the NIPPO Vini Fantini team was born.

Julian Arredondo has had from a difficult season in terms of results because of physical problems. But manager Francesco Pelosi and the medical and the osteopathic staff of the team is sure that these problems can be solved, with a fast and full recovery of the Colombian rider expected soon.

Julian Arredondo will rejoin people he already worked with in the past. In fact, he was riding for the NIPPO - De Rosa team in 2012 and 2013 seasons, a continental team guided by Hiroshi Daimon who is now the Japanese team manager of the Professional NIPPO Vini Fantini team. The great career started in 2013 with the victory of the Tour of Langkawi where he was noticed by Trek team. In 2014, wearing the Trek Jersey, he won the Giro d’Italia mountains jersey, one stage at the Giro and two stages at the Tour of San Luis.

“I’m strongly motivated for next season.” said Julian Arredondo “I can’t wait to begin the new work with my new team. A great season is awaiting us. I’m sure that together with Damiano Cunego we can win again and have great satisfactions. I know that other important new riders will be announced during the following days and the team will keep on growing. Also from a personal point of view it will be an important year of my career. I’m 28 years old, and I really want to demonstrate that I’m able to confirm all the good things I did in the first part of my career. I want to thank the General Manager and the Sports Directors that believe in me, in particular Hiroshi Daimon who gives me the chance to be there."

Francesco Pelosi gives his personal welcome to the first new important addition for the 2017 season:

“Julian is a champion. We strongly believe in the upgrade he can give to our team. He will be an additional leader to follow for the youngest riders of the team, together with Damiano Cunego. During the following days we will announce some new riders that will complete the 2017 roster with more experience and more quality.”
