Giacomo Nizzolo is ready for a new season with nre ambitions. Today he unveiled his plans and a new personal website in Milan.
"My last race was Paris-Tours and since then and I must confess that I forgot where I put the razor. And that's how this new look was born," the Trek Segafredo sprinter who will turn 27 on January 29 and is preparing to fly to Australia for the season debut, tells Tuttobiciweb.
"I have had a winter without problems and this is definitely a good sign. Now I go to Australia with the ambition to do well. In February, I will do the Dubai Tour and then I will go to a training camp with the team to prepare for the classics. I have Tirreno, Sanremo and the Northern campaign on my schedule."
Nizzolo revealed his thoughts on a number of issues.
RESULTS. "This year I want to win. I feel I have reached my final physical maturation and have grown a lot as a man and athlete. When did I realize that I have something more than in the past? At Tre Valli Varesine when I was in the main group with Vincenzo [Nibali], but I already had important signals in Hamburg and Plouay."
CANCELLARA. "Fabian is super motivated and able to motivate all of us. He wants to start strongly and do well in the classics and I want to do the same. "
STYLE. "On my website I wanted a section dedicated to style and elegance because I like fashion and I did not want only to talk aboutof cycling. In this way, those who want to know more about me can get an insight of 360 degrees, regarding style but also my passion for motorcycles. I have some, one of the most precious is the MV."
COBBLES. "It is not the cobbles in itself that excite me, it is the competition. I enjoy it when I compete, I always want to be the best. This is the thought that animates me in the morning when I go out for training. I work to prepare for the challenge. Our team does not have the culture of the hellingen and the cobblestones. We are not Belgian, but I have excellent teachers and basically I am made for this type of racing. However, Roubaix will be my last in Hamburg and Plouay, then I will prepare for the Giro where I will try to get the stage win that has always eluded me."
GOALS. "Many. But mainly two. Sanremo and then a stage in the Giro . Yes, Sanremo: to me it is worth more than the Worlds. I have raced it since I was a junior (in those years there was a race for young riders, ed) and broke the bottom bracket on the climb. I remember that Appollonio took the win. I was at the finish line to assist the professionals and I watched Oscar Freire take the win."
NIBALI. "If Vincenzo joins us next year, it would be nice. But now we celebrate the arrival of an Italian sponsor like Segafredo."
IMAGE. "There were several riders with a good image: for example, I have always supported Cipollini, but when I grew up, I loved Petacchi. But Cipo, as well as being a great rider, used his proovations to change the way of presentingthe sport of cycling to those who know nothing about it. Pozzato? We have an excellent relationship. We have just been together to train in Montichiari."
MANAGER LUCA GUERCILENA was also present and revealed his thoughts on Nizzolo. "Among the strongest sprinters, Giacomo is one of the best climbers. However, I think he must improve his final accelerationis. If he can keep his speed until the end, he will be able to turn his many second places from recent years into wins."
