"After the crash at Paris-Tours I only thought about rest. It was a month on the couch." With these words Giacomo Nizzolo describes his winter in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport. However, the Trek sprinter has already resumed his training as his season will begin in January in Australia.
"From now I am focused on 2016. Tomorrow (Wednesday), I will do my first ride on my bike. From December 8 to 18, there will be a training camp in Spain. In January I will go to Australia where I will compete in the Tour Down Under. I have yet to decide between Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico but the calendar will include the Northern classics before preparing the Giro ."
Before he thinks of the new seasonm the Italian rider draws a balance of the 2015 season.
"This year I wanted to have more victories, but I'm happy with my performance. I did an important job. I laid the foundations and will reap the benefits in 2016.”
Nizzolo knows where he wants those fruits to be reaped.
"I want to focus on the classics and win the red jersey in the Giro again. This year there are more chances for the sprinters and a stage start in Muggiò where I lived as a child. It will be a party.”
