Yesterday Arman Kamyshev took a surprise win on stage 3 of the Tour of Hainan. However, there was no double glory for Astana as the team was unable to catch Julien Antomarchi in today's stage.
“Three riders got into a breakaway and we couldn’t quite catch them," Dmitriy Gruzdev said after stage four at the Tour of Hainan. In the final 30km the rain and wind was heavy."
French rider Julien Antomarchi won the rolling stage southward along the seacoast. A tailwind helped the breakaway of just three riders, and when rain began and the wind shifted, the peloton was unable to catch Antomarchi when he soloed to victory.
Ruslan Tleubayev finished fourth, two seconds behind Antomarchi, who now leads the overall classification by four seconds. Arman Kamyshev sits in seventh overall, 10 seconds down.
Sunday’s seventh stage is a full mountain finish and should decide the General Classification, with Astana Pro Team ready to react.
