During the last Il Lombardia, Romain Sicard was close to follow the best riders in the final, but he defeated and finished 28th. The Europcar rider is pleased to have been able to do well on this race.
"I knew the profile of the final climb did not suit me, so I tried to move before it. To achieve something, I had to move at the right time, but it was not easy… The race was quite closed. I have no regrets. I could not do anything more", the Basque rider told L'Equipe.
"It was my last race of the season. I feel that it’s getting better and better. The Europcar team allowed me to come back with peace, it give me a lot of confidence. This bodes well for next year. Now I can work peacefully."
This season, he finished seventh in the Tour de l'Ain and 13th in the Tour of Spain.
