Steven Kruijswijk will skip the 2016 Tour de France. The 28-year-old Dutchman made the announcement at the presentation of his team LottoNL-Jumbo. He prefers to focus on the Vuelta a Espana.
In 2014 and 2014 Kruijswijk did the Tour de France after the Giro d'Italia. This year he prefers to focus on the autumn. Kruijswijk has done the Veulta once. He ws 41st in 2011.
In 2015 he was seventh in the Giro. In 2016 he aims for a good result in the overall standings but he will also target stage wins. He does not have to choose between the two options. "Ultimately it's about winning. In the last Giro I was second twice. Last year I proved that I can do a good GCwith an attacking style," said Kruijswijk
