Despite having been forced to skip the Giro del Trentino - Melinda, Fabio Aru can be pleased with the performance of the teammates that will accompany him in the Giro d'Italia. Astana was a great protagonist during these four days and capped it with a stage win for Paolo Tiralongo.
Due to his illness, Aru has also been forced to skip Liege-Bastogne-Liege but it had been considered to send him to the Tour de Romandie to make up for the missed racing. However, Tiralongo confirms that he will stick to the original plan of training at altitude.
"I spoke with Fabio yesterday," Tiralongo said at the post-race press conference. "He went to Sestriere today and we will join him on Monday. From that moment he will start to work a little more intensely. Until Sunday he just has to regain strength and energy because he spent four days without eating and drinking."
