Tour de San Luis, Argentina’s most important cycling race, will not be held in 2017 due to financial problems. Ciclismo International reports that there will be no 11th edition next year.
The governing body said that the decision was made based mainly on the lack of economic support from the Argentinean government. "Unfortunately we have to suspend the Tour of San Luis of 2017, because we haven't received private contributions, nor the country's, which even if it showed the disposition to do so, never gave any concrete offer," said Juan Pablo Funes, Secretary of Sports. "The money that we were going to invest in the Tour will be used to support the clubs, associations, federations and sports people, so the kids in San Luis are supported and content."
