Unlike the 2015 edition, the 2016 Tour du Haut-Var (February 20-21) does not include an uphill finish. The organizers have released the details of its two-stage event, with stage one travelling from Le Cannet des Maures to Bagnols-en-Forêt and stage 2 taking place in the area around Draguignan.
The first stage will include the double ascent of the Col du Blavet (7km at 5%), the final passage coming more than twenty kilometers from the finish.
During the second day of racing, the riders will do a lot of climbing as the Côte de Tourtour (6km at 10%) features three times and the Col de Granges (8km at 6%) twice before the final ascent, the Cote des Tuillières (2km with 15% sections) about fifteen kilometers from the finish. The stage will finish on Boulevard Clemenceau in Draguignan.
Last year's race was won by Ben Gastauer who won the opening stage. Luka Mezgec won a reduced bunch sprint on the final day.
