Michael Boogerd's suspension and the decision to strip him from his results in the period 2005-2007 don't mean that Sebastian Langeveld is the the Dutch cycling champion of 2006, according to an announcement from the Dutch Federation. The year 2006 will have no official Dutch champion.
On Wednesday afternoon, the former cyclist announced that he was suspended for two years by the UCI, a ban which will run until December 2017. Boogerd had to immediately resign from his position as team manager at Roompot Orange Pelton. The International Cycling Union also deleted his results from 2005 to 2007. The statute of limitations did not prevent this as Boogerd already confessed in 2013.
Langeveld was up against Boogerd in the finale of the National Championships in 2006. Television revealed a conversation between the two riders. Boogerd asked Langeveld 'if he felt good.' "Moments later Boogerd attacked and won the title. One year later Langeveld joined Rabobank.
