According to Norwegian media, Lars Petter Nordhaug is about to make his return to Team Sky after last two seasons spent in the Belkin Procycling outfit.
Nordhaug rode for the British team for three seasons between 2010 and 2012, and claimed his biggest victory to date in that period in the 2012 edition of the GP Cycliste de Montreal.
The 30-year old Norwegian certainly hoped to give his career a further spin in the Dutch team, especially in regards to spring classics season, but things didn’t turn out accordingly to his wishes.
Missing out on Belkin selection for this year’s Tour de France was yet another blow received by Nordhaug, and reportedly it encouraged him to consider his return to Sky outfit.
Even though the 30-year old Belkin rider refused to comment on those revelations, Nerwegian TV2 television channel reported that he is close to signing new contract with the British team and squad’s sports director Gabriel Rasch confirmed their willingness to welcome him on board again.
“He is a good buddy of mine, and a type of rider that we need in the team", Norwegian directeur sportif Gabriel Rasch told TV2.
“I hope he continues on a positive trend and that we can manage him better in races so he takes the last step up from being a top-five rider to winning. He has the potential and physique in order to do it but sometimes he could do things differently.”
