The season is drawing to a close but one of the monument winners still hasn't found a team for 2015. Nick Nuyens tells La Derniere Heure that he is in negotiations with two teams and hopes to be able to make an announcement in the near future.
Nick Nuyens is about to make a decision about his future. Left without a contract after his current Garmin team merged with Cannondale, the winner of the 2011 Tour of Flanders is now "in talks with two teams." In an interview with La Dernière Heure , the 34-year-old Belgian would not disclose details but said he was "hopeful to be able to announce some good news in the coming days."
Nuyens was reported to be in negotiations with the Danish CULT Energy team which will move up to pro continental level in 2015. However, the team finalized its roster yesterday when they announced the signing of Romain Lemarchand, and so the Danish team is unlikely to be among the two teams still negotiating with Nuyens.
Nuyens enjoyed the most beautiful moment of his sporting career when he became a surprise winner of the 2011 Tour of Flanders. Having been set back by injury, he had a disappointing 2012 season before he left Bjarne Riis' Saxo Bank team to join Garmin-Sharp. Having again been set back by health issues, the Belgian has had two anonymous seasons at the American team.
