Since Hans van Kasteren (60) announced last week that he will stop as manager of the cyclo-cross team Telenet-Fidea on March 1, 2016 and that he was negotiating with some big names as prospective successors, the name of Sven Nys has been mentioned. According to Het Nieuwsblad, Team Nys has confirmed that they have been in talks with Van Kasteren.
39-year-old Nys will stop his career as an active rider in March and is still looking for a new challenge. In the spring, the Svenwill be opened all Sven Nys Cycling Centre in Baal will be opened but the chances are that Nys still will be at every cross race every weekend.
Golazo, the management company behind Nys, have had talks with Hans van Kasteren about possible taking over Telenet-Fidea. Nys would would naturally play an important role and should be team leader. His current manager Jan Verstraeten would fulfill the same role in the new team.
Former Tour of Flanders winner Nick Nuyens has also been mentioned a possible new manager of the team.
