Oleg Tinkov think already about the next season. The Russian billionaire want to finish the Saxo Bank’s sponsoring with his team. Indeed, Saxo Bank CEO Lars Seier Christensen will meet Tinkov in order to begin discussions. They will decide whether or not they will continue with the team.
"Why should I have a co-sponsor? This looks nicer with just one name,” Tinkov defiantly told Danish website bt.dk. "Lars is always welcome to share a bottle of wine with me, it's no problem," said Tinkov. "If Lars makes a proposal, then we look at it, but we do not have problems with sponsors for the next season.”
In mid-June 2008, Riis Cycling A/S announced that Saxo Bank had entered a three-year contract as title sponsor, with immediate effect, so the team entered the 2008 Tour de France as Team CSC Saxo Bank. In January, 2014, the bank remains involved in cycling as a backer of the now Russian-owned Team Tinkoff-Saxo.
