Mathieu van der Poel has addd the Grand Prix of Brabant to his growing palmares. The Dutch champion was already in the lead after one lap and then extended the gap all the way to the finish. In the final lap he crashed, but that did not stop him from taking the victory.
Most top riders were absent today in Rosmalen. The battle for second place was between Corné van Kessel and the only 20-year-old Joris Nieuwenhuis. For a long time, Van Kessel rode alone between Van der Poel and a small group of chasers, but with less than four laps to go Nieuwenhuis managed to bridge across. They started the final lap together and it was Van Kessel who claimed the second spot. It is second podium finish in as many days for the rider of Telenet-Fidea.
On Sunday, the Superprestige race in Asper-Gavere will be held.
