A part of life

It is a common misconception that Danes love bicycles because their cars are too expensive to buy. While it certainly is true that Danish cars are expensive most Danish families own at least one. It is also wrong to assume that people bicycle because they just love it so much.

Danes are avid bicyclists because it is convenient. In the big cities it is much easier to get around on bike than by car and with the famous big bike lanes it is also a safer travel to make than in many other countries.

Because Denmark has no mountains it is a very flat country and therefore extremely easy to travel through by bicycle. This is probably one of the reasons for the bicycle’s popularity and it is common practice for children to learn how to ride a bike as part of their early schooling. If the Norwegians are born with ski on their feet, Danes are born with a bicycle between their legs.

Bicycling is an unavoidable part of life in Denmark. On the streets you see them used by everyone. Parents will come rolling down the bicycle lanes with a little wagon in the front or back of the bike with their child in it. Once the child is older they will ride their own little bike alongside their parent and even later they will ride their bike by themselves to school and university.

There is no place in Denmark that cannot be reached by a bicycle. There is a lot of benefits of cycling. 27 cyclists comments here.

A bike for every need

They know their bikes in Denmark, so it might be a smart idea to check out the online Danish bike shops when you are looking for your next bicycle. The Danes are all about owning bicycles that are easy to handle and get around on and this translates to what kinds of bicycles the stores sell.

Not only is it easy to find a useful bicycle for work related purposes, it is also a piece of cake to find bicycles that are aimed towards more competitive and extreme activities. Because Danes are so comfortable with riding a bike a lot of people own mountain bikes or bicycles that are designed for speeding down the road.

In Denmark it is fairly normal to see a row of people come blazing down the road, bend over their bikes in close-fitting colorful outfits, like a scene out of Tour de France.

If you are into competitive bicycling the Danish stores are therefore sure to have bicycles that will suit your needs. Do not worry about the language barrier since most Danes are excellent English speakers. You can buy bicycles cheap at Cykler.dk
