Argentine Eduardo Sepulveda (Bretagne-Séché Environnement) has been registered and has a race number but still does not know whether he can start the Tour de San Luis as he has not received the license from the Argentine Federation.
A fire at the building where the licenses are stored, has caused the problem, according to L’Equipe. On Sunday night, the administrative issue still hadn’t been resolved. Therefore the president of the jury in San Luis has asked the UCI for permission to allow Sepulveda to start the race later today.
Sepúlveda (1991) goes into his third season at Bretagne. The Argentine excelled in the early part of the 2014 season when he was sixth in the Tour de San Luis, fourth in the Tour Mediteraneen, second in the queen stage to Mont Faron, 20th in Paris-Nice and fifth in the Critérium International. However, a knee injury meant he missed the Tour de France. And before the Worlds road race in Ponferrada, he broke his collarbone. This year the French grand tour will be his big goal. In December, he proved his good form when he won the bronze medal in the points race at the track World Cup in London.
In addition to Sepúlveda, Bretagne will line up Frenchmen Brice Feillu, Matthieu Boulo and Armindo Fonseca, Belarusian sprinter Yauheni Hutarovich and British sprinter Daniel McLay.
Sepulveda is one of CyclingQuotes’ favourites to win the race. You can read our complete preview here.
