ONE Pro Cycling have announced that Tom Stewart will join the team for 2017.

Stewart will make the move from British Continental team Madison Genesis, where he spent the last three years of his career. The Yorkshireman will join ONE Pro Cycling following a successful season taking three race wins and an impressive 7th place at the National Road Race Championships in Stockton.

Commenting on the announcement Stewart said;

“It goes without saying I’m thrilled to be joining ONE Pro Cycling for the coming season, It’s the perfect move for me. Following three great years progressing with Madison Genesis I’m now at the point where a move up to Pro Conti level is the obvious step. I’ve followed the development of ONE Pro closely over the last twelve months and it has to be said that what they have managed to achieve in the past year has been phenomenal. I admire the way the team from the beginning set out with some huge goals. It’s clear they are doing what they need to do to achieve those goals; of being competitive in the biggest bike races in the world.

"As a new rider joining the team that makes things very exciting. Through talking to the team it’s clear to me that the people involved are extremely professional and motivated. As a British rider whose focus is to progress as far as possible in the sport, the opportunity to join a British team with the same ambition is really special. This move to ONE Pro feels very natural and of course I can’t wait to see what we can achieve in the future.”

At 26 years of age, Stewart has proven to be a very versatile rider and is well known to exude power during difficult one-day racing, as well as getting stuck into the mix on hillier mountain stages. Stewart will be aiming to build on his first Professional win which he secured earlier this year, when he claimed an impressive victory at The Velothon in Wales. Other victories during his 2016 season include The Lincoln Grand Prix and the Grand Prix of Wales, while a solid 8th place over tough terrain at Dwars Door het Hageland in Belgium only further proved his strength and versatility.

Sports Director Phil West commented;

“Tom has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of seasons. He will certainly add to the dynamic of the team in the final 20km of our one day races as well as being a GC candidate for our target events such as the Tour de Yorkshire”
