The Omega Pharma company that is the main sponsor of the Omega Pharma-Quick Step team that will be known as Etixx-Quick Step in 2015, has been sold to American company Perrigo. However, manager Patrick Lefevre doesn't expect the acquisition to change things for his team.
The sale of Omega Pharma to the American Perrigo company will not affect Patrick Lefevere's cycling team. Even though previous owner Marc Couke was the driving force behind Omega Pharma's cycling sponsorship, Lefevere expects that the new owner will fulfill its obligations to the cycling team.
"We have a sponsorship agreement with Omega Pharma until 2017," Lefevere told Het Neiuwsblad. "Two weeks ago I had lunch with Coucke and he emphasized that it is customary in acquisitions of this calibre that all past contracts will be taken over. So in 2017 I am not worried. What happens next, no one knows. But that is no different.”
