According to Vielerrevue, the Orange Cycling Team gained a title sponsor for upcoming two seasons, which provides the Netherlands with an opportunity to have a Pro Continental level squad from next year.
It is yet to be announced which company agreed to support an outfit established to support young and talented riders originating from the Netherlands, reportedly today before the start of the Eneco Tour individual time trial held in Breda. Dutch media suggest that such sponsorship opens all doors for the Orange Cycling Team to apply for a Pro Continental license for 2015 season, while despite their undeniably rich tradition the country currently lacks any squad at a professional level.
The outfit managed by Erik Breukink, Michael Boogerd, Jean-Paul van Poppel and Michael Zijlaard is expected to be formed by young and experienced riders originating from the Netherlands exclusively and provide them with an opportunity to develop while attending renowned cycling events.
“Currently the team is in talks with several riders. The Orange Cycling Team focuses primarily on young talents and wants to give riders a chance for their further development in a responsible manner.”
“Because the team wants to be known as an honest and transparent, no-nonsense team with guts and offensive ability, the team management finds it important that the riders fit in such picture,” official press release said.
