ORICA-GreenEDGE will be sending a strong and versatile squad to Hamburg to participate in the 18th edition of Vattenfall Cyclassics. The 250km one day race carries much prestige in Germany as it is currently the country’s only race to hold World Tour status and will be held August the 25th.

The team hopes to catch another big result after Daryl Impey finished 5th in Eneco Tour.

“Each World Tour event is a big goal. With what we saw in Eneco, we have to believe we can do great here, too,” Sport Director Laurenzo Lapage said to the Orica-GreenEDGE webpage.

Looking at the paper profile, it’s easy to deduce that this course was designed with sprinters in mind, however, the aggressive style of racing typical of Vattenfall leaves the race open to a number of scenarios at the finish.

Race director Roland Hofer said: “Although the race profile may appear more suitable for the sprinters, it can ultimately be won by all types of great riders, and it’s exactly this kind of race that’s needed for a well-balanced World Tour.”

ORICA-GreenEDGE hopes to see a reduced bunch at the finish; however, the team will arrive in Hamburg with riders who can win in a variety of situations.

“We are going with a solid team and different guys who will be good in different types of finish,” said Lapage. “[Matt] Goss and Daryl [Impey] will be our guys for a bunch sprint. Jens [Keukeleire], Sebastian [Langeveld] and Alba [Michael Albasini] will look for their opportunities in a break.”

ORICA-GreenEDGE’s roster for Vattenfall Cyclassics: Brett Lancaster, Daryl Impey, Jens Keukeleire, Jens Mouris, Matt Goss, Michael Albasini, Michael Hepburn and Sebastian Langeveld.
