One of BMC's strongest classics riders, Daniel Oss, is ready to make his 2014 season debut after recovering from a knee injury. The Italian will be part of a young BMC team for this week's Belgian races Nokere Koerse and Handzame Classic.
Daniel Oss will race for the BMC Racing Team for the first time this season in a pair of one-day races this week in Belgium. Oss is part of the six-rider line-ups for both Nokere Koerse on Wednesday and Handzame Classic on Friday.
Last year, he rode to three runner-up finishes, including on Stage 11 of the Giro d'Italia, and played an integral role on the classics squad.
"I lost a lot of my form while recovering from a knee injury, but now I am ready – both physically and mentally," Oss said. "I know it will be difficult, but I do not expect anything for now. I simply want to grow my form to get ready for my most important races."
Sport Director Jackson Stewart, who will direct the team in Nokere Koerse and oversaw a training camp last week, said the team has options for breakaways and bunch sprints.
"We will look for the big moves with guys like Silvan Dillier, Martin Kohler, Klaas Lodewyck, and Oss," Stewart said. "If the race looks like it will be well controlled and end in a field sprint, we will take our chances with Rick Zabel and maybe Sebastian Lander. Zabel was feeling really good before flatting out in the last three kilometers in Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen."
