The professional adventure is over for Sébastien Turgot. After almost a decade in the professional peloton, the 32-year-old Frenchman will be riding in the amateur ranks in 2017. After not being offered a new contract by AG2R-La Mondiale, the former Europcar rider has been unable to find a new pro team and instead his new club, US Saint-Herblain, revealed the signing yesterday according to DirectVélo.
Turgot mainly shone in the classics where he was second in Paris-Roubaix in 2012, third in Paris-Tours in 2008 and eighth in the Tour of Flanders in 2013. The Flemish classics specialist won a stage at the Three Days of de Panne and the prologue at the Boucls de la Mayenne. His last three seasons with AG2R were discreet and this has now forced him to step down to a lower level.
