In his third season as professional, Andrea Pasqualon (Bardiani) finally took his first win as a professional when he won the second stage of the Tour de Limousin.
In a tough uphill sprint, he beat Enrique Sanz (Movistar) and Julien Simon (Sojasun) while Martin Elmiger (IAM) finished safely in the bunch to defend his leader's jersey with two hilly stages remaining.
“What a huge joy! Finally my first pro win has arrived and it came at the end of a stage where all of us raced very well with a sole and combined goal,” Pasqualon said. “I must thank my teammates because if I won today it is because of their fantastic job. Yesterday I understood that on an arrival like that with a small climb, I could be competitive for the victory. So today we believed in this success and after we caught the last rider, we made a perfect sprint. I gave everything in the last 200 metres and I’m so happy about this win. Thanks again to the team who trusted in me today.”
