Kevin Pauwels won the final stage of the Superprestige series. Mathieu van der Poel finished second and won the Superprestige with a one-point advantage. Wout van Aert was third in the race.
The final race in the major cyclo-cross series was an exciting one. Halfway through the race, it was down to a battle between 5 riders: Pauwels, Van der Poel, Van Aert, Meeusen and Van der Haar.
This time there was no monotonous one-man show by Mathieu van der Poel. When the Dutchman made his move with four laps to go, Pauwels and van Aert kept him in sight.
With a win and a third place for van der Poel, Pauwels could take the overall win in the Superprestige series. And in the final lap, it seemed that that scenario would turn into reality.
Van der Poel had gone too deep and was caught by Pauwels, Van der Haar and Van Aert. With handsome jumps over the barriers, Pauwels got a gap.
Van Aert was dropped and van der Poel managed to secure the overall victory by holding off the youngster. A disillusioned Pauwels shook his head, but still made a victory gesture.
