The last stage of the Tour de Langkawi in Kuala Lumpur finished with a sprint. Without Jakub Mareczko (virus), the Southeast sports directors Giuseppe Di Fresco and Luca Amoriello decided to bet on Alessandro Petacchi for the final sprint. With his teammates Rafael Andriato, Liam Bertazzo and Andrea Dal Col, and despite some slowdown, Ale Jet obtained a great fifth place.
"I came here to help my teammates", says the Brazilian Rafael Andriato, "and I also had to know my condition for the next races. We didn't win but we were always protagonists in the final sprints."
The silver medalist in the madison of the last track world championships, Liam Bertazzo, comments on his Tour de Langkawi: "I am happy with the work. I was able to be part of two breakaways, which also helped me to grow. And I understood perfectly the mechanisms of the team for the sprints. I have also got the chance to know the team, my teammates, my coaches and the staff. I am really happy to be part of this super team."
"This Tour de Langkawi has gone well", says Andrea Dal Col. "I'm satisfied. During the first stage I sprinted and I obtained a fine 4th place. In the other stages I have always helped Petacchi and Mareczko in the sprints. I am happy, there is a good feeling, we are a nice group for the sprints. Great Team!"
