Peter Sagan could be available on the market at the end of this season. Tinkoff is likely to disappear after this season abd even though he has a contract for 2017 he may have to find a new team. According to some rumours, three WorldTour teams are looking to hire the 2016 Tour of Flanders winner.
"We know that Sagan is on the market. The market is still open and there are still many months before we can sign athletes. For sure, he’s a big champion, a big name, and has a lot of talent. We will see", Trek-Segafredo general manager Luca Guercilena told Cycling Weekly.
Cobbled classics rider Fabian Cancellara will retire at the end of the 2016 season. The US team wants to find another one-day specialist, even if Jasper Stuyven has confirmed that he is a future great rider. "It’s not that Fabian lost the race against a no-one. That was a big name in front, it was a big fight", he added.
Trek wants to sign a GC contender too. "We are interested in both [a classification rider and a new Classics rider]. We will see what will work out, it could be one or both."
