Philippe Gilbert raced Paris-Nice in view of the spring classics. The BMC Racing Team leader is satisfied with his performance at the "Race to the Sun". 

"I feel good", Gilbert said according Sporza who is only focused on Milano-Sanremo now. In the 4th stage, Philippe Gilbert rode 140 kilometers ahead. This performance earned him one day with the polka dot jersey. "It was a good workout," the Belgian said. "A day at the front can not hurt. I chose Paris-Nice to hone my condition."

For Gilbert, Paris-Nice was a stepping stone to what is to come. "It is useless to loiter long on Paris-Nice. Milano-Sanremo is the big goal. For me, it was especially important not to fall here, not to get sick and to improve my condition."

"Milano-Sanremo is a course that suits me and moreover you can not compare one day race with a stage race", he added. "I feel good. I'm not in top form, but the condition is good enough for Sanremo."
