After he lost 5 minutes to Geraint Thomas yesterday, Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) lost another five seconds in today's stage of the Tour de Suisse when the peloton split in the finale.
"The finales are very complicated. Unfortunately, that's how it is," he said. "In Switzerland there are always beautiful roads but the finishes are always a bit tricky. But this is the course and you have to adapt to it. 37 seconds are quite few when you are up against someone like Thomas, but we'll see what happens on Sunday. I have improved [in time trials] but I have to be on a good day.
"Because of my characteristics I cannot be in front in these stages. Thomas is a classics riders and betters knows how to do it.
" In the last two hours Tinkoff-Saxo started to ride, it was very, very fast but we managed to move up. The problem is that at the Tour de Suisse, the finales arrivals are always a bit special . This makes it very nervous. The last kilometer was very dangerous and I lost a bit of ground."
