Thanks to a stunning performance Stefano Pirazzi (Bardiani Valvole-CSF Inox Pro Team) achieved 2nd place at the Italian Time Trial Championship today.
The climber from Fiuggi started very fast and at the first intermediate he was 3rd after Pinotti (BMC) and Cataldo (SKY).
The second part of the route was steadily uphill, giving Pirazzi the chance to pass Cataldo and progress to 2nd overall. On the finish line in Marileva, was bested only by Marco Pinotti with the time of 49.04 for the 38km. Malori (Lampre-Merida) rounded out the podium.
The Bardiani Valvole-CSF Inox Pro Team had a fine Italian Time Trial Championship with Marco Coledan finishing 6th and Angelo Pagani coming 9th.
“I’m really happy with this fantastic result after a tough day yesterday,” said Pirazzi. “I always love this TT speciality and in the last months I have started training on my time trial bike with more intensity. So today I was confident going into the TT championship race, considering that the last part of the route was uphill. For me a good result would be a place in the top-5, but not 2nd place. For this reason my happiness is double and it seems this second place is almost a victory.”
