Team Sky are excited to tackle the inaugural Abu Dhabi Tour and have named a strong line-up for the four-day event.
Run in partnership between Velon and RCS, the final stage race of the year takes the pro peloton into Abu Dhabi for what looks set to be a fierce late-season battle.
With a route which features chances for both sprinters and climbers alike, Team Sky have named a well-rounded six-man squad to travel to the Persian Gulf.
Andy Fenn, Sebastian Henao, Leopold Konig, Wout Poels, Ben Swift and Elia Viviani will travel to the emirate hoping to add to the team's 2015 win tally.
Fenn, Swift and Viviani are all race winners in their own right and have demonstrated their ability to form an effective lead-out train. The same partnership racked up three stage victories for Viviani at the recent Tour of Britain will be targeting more success.
Elite climbers Henao, Konig and Poels will all be looking to make an impact on stage three and the Jebel Hafeet mountain-top finish. Poels comes into the race in particularly impressive form off the back of second place overall at the Tour of Britain, as well as fifth spot at Milano-Torino.
Viviani said: "It's very exciting to be taking part in the first ever Abu Dhabi Tour. We have four exciting stages ahead of us and the final stage on the Yas Marina should be spectacular for the fans. We've got a strong squad for the race and we're ready to get started on Thursday."
The action kicks off on Thursday 8 October and culminates with a blast around the famous Yas Marina Formula 1 circuit on Sunday 11 October.
