Jan Polanc added another good result to the 2015 season which was already crowned with victory in the Abetone stage inat the Giro d'Italia. The Slovenian rider from Lampre-Merida obtained the 6th place in the 2015 edition of the Giro dell'Emilia, 200 km with start and finish in Bologna.

Polanc was beaten at the top of San Luca climb by winner Bakelants, Fedi, Madrazo, Cunego and Prades at the end of a race whose leadership changed many times, after a first hour which was covered at a very high speed.

The first attempt with the necessary freedom was made by Frapporti and Bideau, who led the race from the 75km mark and whose action was neutralized 46 km from the finish.

At the first passage of five on the San Luca climb, Antonio Nibali, Fedi and Madrazo escaped from the bunch and the latter two remained in front of the race on the third passage together with counterattacker Bakelants.

The chasing group was reduced to only 9 riders, among whom there was Polanc but they could not bridge the gap to the leading trio. On the final climb, Bakelants took a solo victory.

"In our place for the race, we had decided to save as much energy as possible until the San Luca climb, also because the race was made tougher by the heavy rain which was the mate of the riders from the start,” sports director Orlando Maini explained. “Polanc is the rider of our team who's living the best moment and he demonstrated today that he's competitive, showing not to be afraid of the steep climb of San Luca. He achieved a good result, also thanks to the support of the team in the approaches to the climb".
