The Polish national team coach, Piotr Wadecki, has announced the long-list for the upcoming World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain, with Tour de France mountain classification winner Rafał Majka (Tinkoff-Saxo) being the biggest absentee.
For the second consecutive year, Poland is allowed to line up with nine-rider roster for the World Championships road race and two riders in the individual time trial. The names will be selected from a long-list consisting of eighteen cyclists, including six riding for WorldTour squads, seven for Pro Continental outfits and latter five know mainly from a domestic arena.
The long-list for World Championships consists of: Tomasz Marczyński, Bartłomiej Matysiak, Maciej Paterski, Marek Rutkiewicz and Mateusz Taciak (CCC Polsat), Paweł Bernas and Kamil Gradek (BDC Marcpol), Michał Gołaś and Michał Kwiatkowski (Omega Pharma-Quick Step), Paweł Franczak and Michał Podlaski (ActiveJet), Maciej Bodnar (Cannondale), Karol Domagalski (Caja Rural-RGA), Bartosz Huzarski (NetApp-Endura), Przemysław Niemiec (Lampre-Merida), Pawel Poljański (Saxo-Tinkoff), Sylwester Szmyd (Movistar) and Łukasz Wiśniowski (Etixx).
The final selection will be announced on September 14th.
