On the roads of the GP Nobili, Simone Ponzi has always been one of the strongest although this year he had to surrender to the overwhelming power of Giacomo Nizzolo.
"In the sprint I did not do any mistakes. Giacomo Nizzolo was stronger and there is nothing more to say because when he accelerated, it was really tough to join him," he said. "The race was very similar to last year, we rode very fast all day, and even though I do not know the average, it was full gas. We rode fast on the climbs but it sill came down to a sprint."
The result is a good one for the successful Southeast team.
"In the team we are many riders who can do well, and when Manuel Belletti is in front, it seems right to give him a hand because he is really fast. In the first part of the season, I have willingly given a hand to him, and now I alsohave my chances. I will ride a bit less than last year to be ready for the Giro."
The Italian gran tour is one of the objectives for the 28-year old rider.
"My big season goal is the Giro where I want to do well. Now I will do the Coppi and Bartali, the Giro del Trentino and then the Giro where I will try to win a stage. I can feel that the legs are back and I'm only 28 so I will try to take the third win in Nobili next year."
