The Österreich Rundfahrt was not the succes that Roompot Orange Peloton had hoped for. Jean-Paul van Poppel's team didn't achieve the expected results in the 9-day race.

After a 10th place in the team prologue, Sjoerd van Ginneken sprinted to a fine 6th place in stage 1. The young Dutchman took more places og honour later in the race: 13th in Matteri and a19th in Innsbruck.

As opposed to what is often common in modern cycling, the break often made it to the finish in the race. Hence, De La Parte, Van Zyl and Pöstlberger all claimed solo wins.

Unfortunately, not even Johnny Hoogerland managed to bring his breaks to the finish. Mike Terpstra (13th) and Marc de Maar (15th) were the ones to do best. After a late attack of Marc de Maar whoc was caught less than a kilometer from the finish, the victory in Dobratsch was taken by Victor de la Parte. He ended up as the race winner while Huub Duijn (23th) was the most consistent rider from Roompot.

The stay in Austria was also disappointing in other ares. A heavy hailstorm on Thursday in Villach damaged some of the bikes. For the final weekend, the technical staff had to bring new frames to Tyrol.

Mechanics, soigneurs and riders will enjoy 10 easy days. GP Cerami on July 22 is the next race.
