With only a few more race days remaining on the road in 2015 Team Sky will be looking to target some more late-season success in Italy.
The pair of races kick off the October action and act as a run-in to the final monument of the year at Il Lombardia.
Both events feature exciting parcours and will reward those riders carrying the strongest form after a long year. Team Sky will line up with a strong squad at each event, with Gran Piemonte also seeing stagiaire Tao Geoghegan Hart make his debut with the team.
Milano-Torino (1 October)
The run between two of Italy's most famous cities looks set to be an exciting battle between some of the peloton's top climbers.
Kicking off with a slow-burning run of 160 kilometres of near-flat terrain, the race changes completely with two ascents of the Superga climb. Averaging 9.1%, but with ramps of 14% thrown in, the climb should split the group before a final 19km loop back around to the finish. Second time up the riders must climb an additional 600 metres to the line. That final effort could make all the difference in deciding the winner.
Team Sky squad - Ian Boswell, Sebastian Henao, Sergio Henao, Vasil Kiryienka, Leopold Konig, Mikel Nieve, Wout Poels and Richie Porte.
Gran Piemonte (2 October)
The action resumes the next day as Gran Piemonte makes a welcome return after a two-year hiatus. Team Sky were victorious last time out, with Rigoberto Uran taking the win in the 2012 edition.
A deceptively testing loop departs from San Francesco al Campo before a largely flat start gives way to a rolling final third. A ramp at Alice Superiore kicks off the climbing and only the strongest and most motivated riders will be around to contest the finish. An intriguing course holds the possibility for a number of riders to challenge.
Team Sky squad - Ian Boswell, Tao Geoghegan Hart, Sebastian Henao, Pete Kennaugh, Vasil Kiryienka, Leopold Konig, Alex Peters and Richie Porte.
