The Portuguese selector, José Poeira, has made public his shortlist for the World Championsips in Ponferrada. 

Portugal has six entries for the road race and two for the time trial. 

The Portugese Shortlist is: André Cardoso (Garmin-Sharp), Bruno Pires (Saxo-Tinkoff), José Gonçalves (La Pomme Marseille), José Mendes (NetApp-Endura), Nelson Oliveira (Lampre-Merida), Ricardo Vilela (OFM-Quinta da Lixa), Rui Costa (Lampre-Merida), Sérgio Paulinho (Saxo-Tinkoff) and Tiago Machado (NetApp-Endura). 

Rui Costa is the defending World Road Race Championships after he beat Joaquim Rodriguez of Spain in a two-up sprint finish in Florence last year.
