Stig Broeckx has given the first small signs of recovery. The Lotto Soudal rider was hit by a motorcyclis during the Tour of Belgium and spent several weeks in a coma. His rehabilitation is difficult, but the Belgian is no longer in hospital.
Lotto Soudal manager Marc Sergeant visited Broeckx in late September. In Het Nieuwsblad, Sergeant tells his story.
"I saw Stig on September 29 at the rehabilitation center in Overpelt. It was the birthday of his girlfriend Tilly. Suddenly Tilly said: "Stig, show me what you can." He blinked and raised his right thumb with a lot of pain. And then he tried to squeeze my arm as hard as possible. They are small signs of improvement, but they are very meaningful signals. Nobody knows where it ends but let's hope Stig can still become much better. It is worth to continue to support his family and girlfriend. Fight for Stig. "
