Miguel Angel Lopez (1994, Astana) is another rider WorldTour that will skip the Colombian National Championships due to the two-week delay until February 17-21 as it overlaps with the commitments with his team.

Superman López could not have wished for a better start as he claimed a victory in the queen stage and was fourth in the Tour de San Luis. "I started with big goals, I had prepared, and thanks to the confidence of the team I reached them," he says in an interview with ColombiaSports. "It gives me motivation for the races to come."

The Colombian recalls the high temperatures and the wind which caused several crashes in which he was involved, fortunately only suffering "scratches." His triumph came at the finish in Filo Sierra de Comechingones ahead of brothers Nairo and Dayer Quintana. "The job was to follow Quintana's wheel because they had to work. They were closer to the leader and were in the same team The final was hard and I decided to wait and make a good sprint," he says.

His next race should have been the Colombian Nationals, planned for February 4-7 but it has been delayed by the Federation.

"Unfortunately, I had everything ready. Since December it has been a goal. I was prepared and I was motivated to do a good Nationals, the time trial and the road race. I think it is disrespectful towards the riders to postpone it for 15 days less one week before the start and many of the riders n Europe cannot be there. In my case, I have to skip it because I have to travel to the Tour de Langkawi on February 15 to arrive a few days early and recover for the start on Febraury 24," he says.

In Langkawi, he focues on "the stage in which the GC was decided last year when I couldn't be there because of visa problems.

His schedule is as follows: Volta a Catalunya (March 21-27), Tour of the Basque Country (April 4-9), Tour de Romandie (April 26-May 1), Tour of Switzerland (June 11-19), Tour of Austria (July 3-10), Vuelta a Burgos (August 2-6) and Vuelta a Espana (August 20-September 11). He hopes to get selected for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
