The Lampre-Merida team has a very good morale ahead of the Ronde van Vlaanderen, mostly because of the two victories to Sacha Modolo in the Driedaagse De Panne. Filippo Pozzato is the most experienced rider in the Lampre roster and will start with team-mate Bonifazio, Cimolai, Favilli, Modolo, Palini, Richeze and Wackermann.
Lampre-Merida DS Maini says the experience of Pozzato will be very useful in order to give the young riders of the team the improvement the need.
"The experience and the skills of Pozzato in this race will be useful for allowing our younger riders in the path of improvement that they have been performed in this period,” sport director Maini explained. ”The team showed to be better and better in each race and we reached the two beautiful victories in De Panne.”
The race will be a very big challenge for the team, but if they come with a good team spirit, they will be satisfied at the end of the race.
“We all knew that Ronde van Vlaanderen challenge is more demanding but, if we'll face it with the same grind, the same will to honour Lampre-Merida’s jersey and the same team spirit, at the end of the race we'll be for sure satisfied.”
Also he says the weather can play a role at the race, to which he adds that the forecasts predict rain on the course Sunday.
“It will be important to evaluate how the weather will be. Until now, we've been so lucky to race always in the sun, but for Sunday forecasts say rain, so the race could be more demanding and more uncertain.”
