The stage of the Monte Zoncolan has not created major differences between the General Classification contenders. Domenico Pozzovivo was able to confirm the 5th place. The Lucan said after the finish line, "I had barely enough after the time trial yesterday because I rode so hard." The captain of Ag2r La Mondiale has "tried to find someone at fault, but everyone was equal." In this way it was impossible to make a difference. 

The first two weeks of the race had created high expectations on Pozzovivo who says he is "satisfied" with the Tour of Italy as pointing "to get in the top five." This result highlights the continued growth of this athlete who has a few more years from possible protagonist.

His DS Laurent Biondini said he felt sorry for the fans who were not treated to the spectacle they were promised:

“Everyone expected a very dramatic climb but the leaders haven’t attacked. Bodies are all very tired and I don’t think anyone was able to up the pace today. Don’t forget that the riders have took part yesterday to an extremely difficult individual time-trial on which they gave their best. We knew after this stage that the final classification was almost the definitive one.”
