Domenico Pozzovivo will ride the Tour de France in 2016 . According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Ag2r La Mondiale climber had made the important choice to focus on La Grande Boucle for the first time in his career.
Already last year Pozzovivo played with the thought of doing the Tour but the team feared that he would suffer in the stressful first week. This year's course should suit him a lot better as it is dominated by long climbs, both time trials are hilly and the first week is less stressful.
Pozzovivo is yet to define his objectives but a top 10 would be a realistic target. He is likely to share the leadership with Romain Bardet and Alexis Vuillermoz.
La Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that Jean-Christophe Peraud will be the Ag2r leader in the Giro d'Italia. The veteran will make his debut in the Italian race in what is likely to be the final year of his career.
