Shortly after pulling out of the Vuelta a Espana due to a collarbone fracture, Nairo Quintana turned all his attention to the upcoming 2015 season. Currently recovering from the crash in Colombia, the 24-year old Movistar rider revealed his schedule for the next year, unsurprisingly confirming that the Tour de France will be his biggest objective.
“I’m preparing for the Tour de France, which will be my ultimate goal next year, but I will do the races like Tour de Suisse as a build-up,“ Quintana told El Tiempo.
“I will start with the Tour de San Luis, then ride the Paris-Nice, Volta a Catalunya and, in addition, one classic. Then I will return to Colombia an inaugurate final part of preparations towards the Tour,” the 24-year old Colombian revealed.
Quintana is in the middle of his recovery process following the Vuelta a Espana crash. Even though he hasn’t returned to trainings yet, he expects to do so in about two weeks and claimed to be pleased with his progress.
“I’m better. Recovery process has been effective and I should be back on my bike in about 15 days. I’ve regained 75 percent of shoulder mobility what makes me happy.”
Movistar team won’t confirm Quintana’s schedule for 2015 before routes of Grand Tour races are officially announced, but it’s almost certain that the Colombian climber will contest the Tour de France.
